Three Monterey County Road Road Trips, Chapter One

The Monterey Peninsula, Fresh Sea Air, Fresh Catch & Craft Beer

Every seafood lover will be enthralled to start their road trip at Monterey's Fisherman Wharf. The best Monterey-style fresh fish, pasta and clam chowder can be found at Domenicos, Old Fisherman's Grotto, Paluca Trattoria, Scales and Water& Leaves.

You might quaff a local ale at the Dust Bowl Brewing Company or venture inland a couple blocks to the Alvarado Street Brewery & Grill in the heart of downtown Monterey. You can burn off all the wonderful beverages and cuisine biking or hiking the stunning Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail.

The trail runs about nine miles northwest to Pacific Grove and Asilomar State beach. But if you find yourself getting hungry as you approach the Coast Guard Pier, have no fear, Osteria Al Mare serves amazing, authentic Italian fare even the locals rave about. Journeying on, you might venture into the Wine Experience for their selection of fine wines.

And on to Cannery Row, with a trove of fine restaurants, from the Chart House and Fish Hopper to Bistro Moulin and The Sardine Factory. It's a challenge to make a decision, but you won't make a bad one. Or step into another world at the recently reopened Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Lovers Point Beach in Pacific Grove has a great beach. It's sheltered cove makes it the perfect place to take some sun by the ocean. Or relax with a picnic in Lover's Point Park or visit the grill. You might take lunch or dinner at The Beach House Restaurant or head inland for sustainably sourced seafood at Passionfish or Mediteranean dining at Fandangos. We also encourage you to sample Pacific Grove Brewing Company beer at one of many restaurants in Pacific Grove.

Your adventure can continue on the world renown 17-Mile Drive tour through Pebble Beach. Their are many turnouts to stop at and enjoy the views, or snap an Social Media worthy photo with the Lone Cypress.

End your in journey in charming Carmel-by-the-Sea, known for its Galleries and Shops and cobblestone sidewalks. You may indulge in local cuisine at any one of the hundreds of excellent restaurants within a two square mile area. Create an epic memory with a walk along Carmel Beach to enjoy the surfers, children at play or watch the incredible sunset.
